Anna Stubblefield

Board Member since 2010

Anna Stubblefield’s background and experience covers almost every aspect of education. At the school level she has performed the duties of teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal. At the district administrative level she has experience in the areas of teaching and learning, business and operations, educational programs and technology, and human resources.

This school year she has served as the Lawrence Public Schools interim superintendent. In addition to overseeing the district, Stubblefield has continued her role as Deputy Superintendent of Education Support and Equity. Beginning in July of 2018, she will relinquish her role as interim superintendent.

“One of the things I am going to miss is surprising staff with all of the awards,” she said. “I have also enjoyed spending time with, and getting to know the board members for the school district. Otherwise, I am looking forward to not doing two jobs.”

Stubblefield joined the Lawrence Schools Foundation in 2010, while serving as the principal at what is currently Liberty Memorial Central Middle School. While on the Foundation board she has been active with the LEAP program, and Follies and Scholarship committees among others.

“I joined the board as the secondary principal’s representative,” she said. “It was, and continues to be one of the opportunities I am grateful for and enjoy doing.”

Having Stubblefield on the board benefits both the Foundation and the district office, as her appointment provides a great link for the organizations as the Foundation seeks to enhance the opportunities for the district’s students and teachers.

“As an educator, it is important to me to work in collaboration with others who are committed to education,” she said.

Her daily life in education doesn’t end when she goes home at night. Her husband David is the principal at Blue Valley North High School and they can share insights on the task of supporting teachers and students.

In her limited free time she says she “enjoys reading, shopping and watching my youngest son in his activities (at least most of them). I am a self-proclaimed ‘reluctant baseball mom.’”
